The Problem

BigRentz is a heavy equipment rental company with over 4,500 rental partners and over 12,000 partner locations around the United States. They originally contacted us for link building services. The engagement evolved into primarily SEO-focused content in 2021 and beyond.

BigRentz’s blog had a strong foundation, but much of the content wasn’t converting or core to their audience. They were missing out on lower volume, high-intent equipment keywords. We knew that these terms may drive less traffic, but they would attract qualified equipment renters.

Lead generation from our SEO channel has grown year over year. As well, our traffic has grown between 130–150% year over year. SEO has been one of the major factors in the success of the company, converting the bottom of the funnel to sales.

The Strategy

We knew BigRentz had the potential to dominate the search engine results pages for all equipment-related terms, so we conducted a keyword gap analysis to identify informational equipment terms that they weren’t targeting, weeding out terms that would appeal to home improvement enthusiasts, engineers, or educators rather than construction professionals.

We also identified and refreshed high-value posts that were underperforming.

Our secondary focus was link building. We earned relevant backlinks by promoting linkable assets like unique data and comprehensive guides and by identifying topics that would rank and drive organic links over time.

The Results

Since we began creating SEO-optimized content, organic pageviews to our posts have increased 186%. Our content drives over 85,500 visitors/month to the BigRentz blog, $103,000 monthly traffic value, and nearly 2,000 goal completions per year.

Despite the net blog traffic decreasing from 2022 to 2023, traffic to our content increased 27% and is progressively contributing to a larger share of organic traffic. In January 2022, our content contributed to 23% of the blog’s organic pageviews and in April 2023 it makes up 39%.

Additionally, four out of the five most trafficked blog posts were created by us and we’ve captured 47 SERP features.
